LANGUAGE ARTS 3/5

We used class time to write an engaging introduction and two body paragraphs and highlighted the parts of the essay (use the key below).

Topic Sentence-green

Transition-orange

Evidence-blue

Citation (source)-yellow

Elaboration-pink

Underline your thesis/claim in red

Reread your prompt to make sure your essay demonstrates the purpose for writing and that it has substantial evidence to support it.

Write CC in red next to your counterclaim (where you put your counterclaim is up to you based on your evidence in any of the BODY paragraphs).  Look at your planning sheet.

In order to be able to revise your essay, you must have your first draft with the introduction and two body paragraphs completed before class tomorrow (this will count as a double assignment)!!  We will work on the third body paragraph and conclusion tomorrow.

REMINDERS....

skip lines

do not write on the back of the paper

indent when you start a new paragraph

write neatly

watch your spelling, grammar, and punctuation
